NUREMBERG, Germany–The Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) achieved remarkable success at the 77th Nuremberg International Invention Exhibition (iENA), held from November 1 to 3, 2025. Showcasing its innovative prowess, the academy was honored with one Gold, one Silver, and five Bronze medals for its cutting-edge environmental technologies.
Often hailed as the "Oscars of Inventions," iENA is one of the world's oldest and most influential invention fairs. This year's event at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center featured 540 inventions from 21 countries. The international jury awarded CRAES's technologies with a total of seven medals, a testament to their quality and impact, especially considering that only about 10% and 20% of the entries received Gold and Silver medals, respectively.
The CRAES delegation presented a suite of patented technologies that offer innovative solutions to pressing global environmental challenges:
Gold Medal: Muti-Objective Optimization Method for Groundwater Pollution Monitoring Network by the team of Institute of Soil and Groundwater Environment.
Silver Medal: Integrated Prediction and Early Warning System for Algal Blooms by the team of National Joint Research Center for Ecological Protection and High-Quality Development of the Yellow River Basin.
Bronze Medals: Awarded to five technologies, including the AIR Type High-Efficiency Ozone Catalyst for Industrial Wastewater Treatment, Multi-Core Sensor System, and Isolation and Recovery Method Therefor, Water Environmental DNA Collection Apparatus, Anaerobic Aerobic Integrated Treatment System for Perishable Organic Solid Waste, and Multi-Source Organic Solid Waste Pyrolysis and Oil-Gas Targeted Reforming System.

The exhibition served as a powerful platform for CRAES to highlight its research progress and engage in fruitful exchanges with a global audience of experts and innovators. The academy's strong presence significantly boosted its international visibility and opened new avenues for global cooperation.
The success was further underscored by a visit from Mr. Chen Linhao, Minister-Counsellor for Science and Technology at the Chinese Embassy in Germany, who spoke highly of the academy's achievements at the event.

Founded in 1948, iENA is one of the world’s oldest and most influential invention exhibitions. More than 30,000 inventions have been brought to the public through this event. With its fair evaluation system, large scale, and strong authority, iENA is highly recognized by governments worldwide. This year, the Chinese delegation organized by the China Invention Association reached a new record in both size and project quality, showcasing 168 invention projects across healthcare, intelligent manufacturing, new materials, and environmental and energy technologies. Participants included over 70 universities and research institutions—such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, and the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences—as well as 50 innovative enterprises.
